Solaris 2.3/SparcServer 1000 loss rates

Here's one for the reflector gurus; I run the reflector on a Solaris
box (2.3, SparcServer 1000 - 2CPUs) and connect two macs running 0.80b2 to
it. They report loss rates of 5-25%. If I run the reflector on a SunOS 4.1.3
system (SparcStation 2) they report 0% packet losses.

This occurs on the SS1000 whether I run the code that was compiled on the
SS2 or code compiled on the SS1000. I'm at a loss (sorry!) to explain it.

The only thing that is different between the two systems is that the macs
and the SS2 are on the same thinnet cable and the SS1000 is on a 10BaseT
hub - but that hub is on the same thinnet.... And the SS1000 netstat shows
no errors on the interface except for a few collisions now and then. A much
lower rate tho than the packet loss - I.e. one or two per minute while the
packet loss seems to be in the tens to hundreds per minute....

Ideas? Could the SS1000 be too fast for the macs? One is a Performa
6115cd and the other is a PowerMac 8100.... ????
