Modems, devices that MOdulate and DEModulate digital data into audio, will
probably never top 28.8 kbps, and if someone does, by not much more than
that.

But the only change in the infrastructure will be the phone switch at the
phone company's substation. ISDN is brought to you on the same wire as are
phones.
